The IBM FlashSystem is an NVMe-based storage system. Its key differentiator is the FlashCore architecture, where each NVMe module is integrated with a dedicated processor. This design enables optimized I/O performance. These CPUs also serve another critical function: monitoring write operations. If a FlashCore CPU detects I/O patterns typical of a ransomware attack, it immediately sends an alert.
Currently available FlashSystem storage models:
- FlashSystem C200: A system primarily designed for media streaming, archives, and backup storage.
- FlashSystem 5000: An entry-level small business storage system operating with traditional SAS drives or SSDs.
- FlashSystem 5300: An entry-level NVMe-based storage system.
- FlashSystem 7300: An enterprise-class NVMe storage system.
FlashSystem 9500: The flagship model, delivering extreme performance.
